Pet Basic Research
The PetCare Basic Research Department looks for ways to improve the quality and length of life for our pets. Our project leaders and scientists develop nutritional knowledge specific to companion animals to deepen our understanding of the specific needs of pets at a biological level and document the health benefits of nutritional solutions in our products sold under the Nestlé-Purina brand.
We extensively use research tools that have emerged from the disciplines of molecular biology, genomics, genetics, cellular biology, immunology, and microbiology.
One of our major research goals is to develop the relevant research models to identify meaningful biomarkers that allow us to measure the extent of health-beneficial effects of different nutritional approaches.
Our scientists work closely with other departments within the NRC to transfer and share knowledge that can support development of innovative products.
